Game crashing, freezing, or device overheating

Modified on Sun, 23 Aug at 9:33 PM

If Mob Control crashes back to your home screen, freezes during intense battles, or causes your device to run unusually hot during long gaming sessions, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Optimize In-Game Graphics & Settings

High mob counts and visual effects can put significant load on device hardware.

  • Reduce Frame Rate & Effects: Open Settings (Gear icon) in Mob Control and check the graphics section. Lowering display settings reduces processor load and slows down device heat buildup.

  • Take Session Breaks: Extended play sessions cause devices to thermally throttle (slow down automatically to prevent overheating), which leads to frame drops and sudden app crashes.

Step 2: Free Up Device RAM & System Resources

  • Close Background Apps: Multi-tasking with memory-heavy apps (social media, video streaming) consumes RAM required by Mob Control during high-density mob waves.

  • Disable Battery Saver / Low Power Mode: Low Power mode restricts CPU performance, which frequently causes frame stuttering and unexpected app closures.

  • Check Storage Space: Ensure your device has at least 2 GB of free internal storage. Low storage prevents the game from writing temporary cache files during gameplay.

Step 3: Crashes Triggered When Starting or Ending an Ad

If your game specifically freezes or crashes when an ad begins or when trying to close an ad:

  • Clear App Cache (Android): Open Settings > Apps > Mob Control > Storage and tap Clear Cache (do not select Clear Data).

  • Reset Advertising Identifier:

    • Android: Go to Settings > Google > Ads and select Reset Advertising ID.

    • iOS: Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, toggle Allow Apps to Request to Track off and back on.

  • Network Stability: Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data helps prevent ad network timeouts that trigger game freezes.

Step 4: Reporting Persistent Performance Issues

If crashes continue after attempting the steps above, please submit a crash report to Support via Settings > Help & Support under Performance / Crashes with:

  • Player ID: Found at the bottom of the Settings menu.

  • Device Model & OS: (e.g., iPhone 13 on iOS 17.4 or Samsung Galaxy S22 on Android 14).

  • Crash Pattern: When does the crash occur? (e.g., "Immediately upon opening an ad," "During 4x multiplier scenes," or "After playing 5 consecutive battles").
